Rebirth | Band of Barbells
A campaign that teases and reveals the process of moving into the new Band of Barbells gym location in Scarborough.
I was approached by gym owners Dan and Mae to create promotional material on their official gym location move. Highlighting the powerlifting community they had grown and fostered in Scarborough over the last couple of years, this move represented a huge milestone in the expansion of not only their community but the sport its tied to.
The Aesthetic
Powerlifting is raw, gritty, and unapologetically loud - therefore I took inspiration from early 2000's skate videos and incorporated a wide angle lens and a lot of grain.
My responsibilities included renting out equipment, scheduling/filming interviews, and editing the final deliverables formatted for social media.
Full Reels
Dan and Mae had requested for two Instagram reels: one that highlights their move and the rapid growth of the powerlifting community in Scarborough and the second highlights Flipz; a Toronto-based graffiti artist who created the signature mural on the Band of Barbells main wall.
I also created two custom Instagram stories to tease and maintain the hype in between the releases of the two reels.
