Hello, my name is Nijel.
I'm a video producer and photographer born in the Philippines, based out of Toronto, Canada. I specialize in creating branded social media content as well as interviews and event coverage with a focus on authentic storytelling that highlights community and diversity.
Inspired by legends such as Peter McKinnon, Casey Neistat, and Danny Gevirtz, I started creating videos and taking photos for student clubs while I was studying at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus. Today, I am a full-time video producer and photographer who's passionate about capturing authentic moments to build communities and grow brands.
Approach
I believe how you approach a project shapes the final result, and therefore intentionality and collaboration are non-negotiables in creating authentic and impactful content as well as building communities and maintaining great relationships.
I see myself as a storyteller, but more importantly, a problem solver. I take the time to understand my client's needs and ultimately, the goals they're trying to achieve. Every creative decision has a purpose behind it.
From there, I collaborate on ideas and build something that makes sense creatively while still hitting key goals. I like to come into every shoot *overly*prepared so I can focus on creating a professional yet relaxed environment where people can feel comfortable being themselves on camera.
In post production, I pay close attention to details such as sound design, messaging, and pacing to ensure that everything flows naturally. I value feedback and revisions, and I make it a priority that the deliverables are produced on time and represents the brand at a high level.
